Children’s Discovery Center Recognized for Excellence

Mount Pleasant, SC – Children’s Discovery Center, a local childcare center with two locations in Mount Pleasant, received three new awards in 2016. The center was named “Mom’s Choice for Best Pre-School” by Lowcountry Parent and “Charleston’s Choice for Best Daycare” by The Post and Courier. Most recently, the center received the “Best Child Care” designation by Mount Pleasant Magazine’s Best of Mount Pleasant Awards.

“Anytime you are recognized for what you do as a business it’s an honor,” said Lois Rosenberry, president and CEO of the Children’s Discovery Center. “But to be honored for the love and commitment we provide our children is a true testament to our team’s hard work and dedication to our mission.”

One year after Children’s Discovery Center opened its doors at the corner of Venning Road and Highway 17, it was named the 2014 “Mom’s Choice for Best Daycare” by Lowcountry Parent and quickly started a waiting list due to high demand from local families. As demand for the center’s childcare program grew, a second location was built to serve the Park West neighborhood and surrounding communities in northern Mount Pleasant.

“Our main objective is to continue to provide quality childcare to our families and their children through an educational philosophy unlike any other in the area,” said Rosenberry. “Receiving these accolades is wonderful but the ultimate thank you is being able to watch our children grow and thrive.”

Children’s Discovery Center Recognized as one of Largest Privately-Owned Child Care Companies in the Country

Mount Pleasant, SC – The Children’s Discovery Center recently topped Exchange magazine’s list of North America’s Largest For-Profit Child Care Organizations. Coming in at the 36th spot, the Children’s Discovery Center’s ranking is based on the center’s nine locations and 1,703 overall capacity.

The list is featured in the most recent publication from Exchange Press Inc., an organization dedicated to promoting the exchange of ideas among leaders in early childhood programs worldwide. The list uses information supplied by the organizations’ websites. The data on capacity is the total licensed capacity of all centers as of Jan. 1, 2016.

“I am honored that the Children’s Discovery Center is recognized among some of the largest and most well-respected child care centers in the country,” said Lois Rosenberry, president and CEO of the Children’s Discovery Center. “It is a true testament to our team’s hard work and dedication to our continual growth.”

This is not the first time the Children’s Discovery Center has been recognized by Exchange magazine. A few months ago, Rosenberry was named a member of the Master Leader of the Exchange Leadership Initiative.

“I believe that this is just the beginning of our journey,” said Rosenberry. “With such exceptional teams at every one of our locations, enhancing early childhood experiences for our children is our primary focus.”

Mount Pleasant, SC – Children’s Discovery Center has been named the 2014 Lowcountry Parent Mom’s Choice Award winner for best daycare. With hundreds of child care providers in the Lowcountry this is certainly a noteworthy accolade for the Mount Pleasant child care provider. Children’s Discovery Center has quickly made a name for itself as a quality child care provider since opening its doors just last summer.

“It’s a tremendous honor being voted among the Lowcountry’s top businesses, services and establishments,” says Katie Carter, director of the Mount Pleasant center. “We’re thrilled to have established a reputable child care center within the past year and are thankful for the parents who choose to entrust us with their children.”

Children’s Discovery Center’s presence is unique to the area and bases our methods and practices of early education on the world-renowned Reggio Emilia philosophy that works toward empowering children and encouraging physical, emotional, creative and intellectual growth. Our refined approach to learning encourages children to use their 100 languages to see, touch, and do – to draw, paint, weave, plant, write, take photos, sculpt in clay and more. This educational philosophy focuses on early and primary education and is the first of its kind offered in the Lowcountry. Our center also includes children’s museum exhibits and a replica of the Ravenel Bridge, as well as other tools and décor throughout the classrooms that reflect the Charleston community, culture and surroundings.
